I believe a house should function for how you live. Or better yet, for how you have Dreamed of living…… after all, this is the ‘ME Stage’ of our lives now.
When we were moving to Madrid, we knew guests would be coming to stay with us. Once we arrived in Madrid, we met friends who had rented large apartments in anticipation of all their guests, only to discover people didn’t really cross the pond all that often.
Knowing this truth, reaffirmed to me that our apartment needed to function for the two of us on a daily basis. Guests, would be accommodated on a ‘as needed’ basis.
To this end, our landlady was absolutely horrified when we insisted she remove the beds out of the 2nd bedroom. Her exact words were “But it is a bedroom, it Must have a bed!”
In our shipping container from Canada, was our Bowflex, which we were determined to use (Finally). So along with it, a desk and my husband’s clothing, claimed this ‘2nd bedroom’ as his ‘Den & Personal Dressing Room’.
The fact it was adjacent to a full bathroom, made it ideal for a guest room when necessary. As I was very clever, our shipping container also included two popup camping beds.
Our 2nd apartment did not come furnished, as we thought all the decorating and shopping would be a very good project for me. And it was !!!
In this home, it would be my PDR that would double as a Guest Room.
All though, I do suspect our first guest (Pepp) found it to be a bit too girly. But then again prepping for a 5 day stay, is a lot different than for 3 weeks!!

While converting these PDR’s into guests rooms (and back again) included a lot of lugging to and from the storage locker, it was always so worth it!
