An inch (or even less) makes ALL the difference!!
As I am petite, I factor the cost of alterations into each purchase I make. While hemming for me is mandatory, I have also gone so far as to have an entire coat reworked to a proper fit. But that is another story…
I make it a rule that nothing gets into my PDR without first having the required alterations. No exceptions! After all, everything is about the fit. I know very few women (perhaps only the lovely Denise), who can wear things straight off the rack. Most garments need a ‘little tweak’ to fit your exact body.
Remember; it is NOT your body that is wrong, it’s the garment!
Before moving to Madrid, I was fortunate to live down the street from Golden Stitches Alterations (1397 Pembina Highway), a truly awesome seamstress shop!
Friends, let me tell you – a trusted tailor / seamstress is an absolute must!!!
Now that we are back in Winnipeg, one of the first things I did was reacquaint myself with the lovely Ingrid at Golden Stitches. Let the hemming begin..
just a bit too long after an inch
The most flattering skirt / dress length, is when it hits at the skinniest part of your leg. Mine happens to be, almost, but not quite, at the bottom of my kneecap.
Spend some time finding yours…. Your clothes will thank you.
Interesting I did not know this. Must find my skinny part of my lower leg 👍🏻
