Air line travel

WHY would anyone travel in their ‘Saturday morning on the couch’ clothes?

Traveling two or three times a year to Winnipeg, has exposed me to more than enough of ‘what was she thinking?!’.  Some people look like they just crawled out of bed…or worse…

A few years ago, one of our first overseas visitors, Rhonda (pictured above), arrived at our door (after slepping her suitcase up four flights of stairs) looking slightly wrinkled, but very STYLISH.  She, being a veteran traveler for work, swears by jersey skirts and tights.  So simple.  So easy.  So stylish.

Really, what could be more comfortable than a loose fitting shift dress, or elastic waist skirt?

And also, sometimes you just do not have the time, or patience, to change after the flight….

In the cooler weather, I add a pair of tights under my dress.  A soft wrap, pashmina, large scarf, or a flowy cardigan, is always a must for me – no matter the season.  It can be anything I need it to be:  a pillow or a blanket, but most often, it is simply draped over my lap covering my legs.  (you can not always sit like a lady).

Comfortable, easily removable footwear, (whether a sandal or a boot) is another must for me.  And I always bring my own ‘disposable slippers’ , as not all airport security lines have these available.  (why not is beyond me…IF you want me to take off my shoes and walk through….please think of the hygiene).

For the long 8 hour flight, I also forgo any shapewear, opting instead for the extreme comfort of a cotton (granny) panty.  But when I am walking to, or from the plane, my trusted wrap hides all of that.

If dresses and skirts are not your thing – a good quality legging paired with a tunic can be equally fabulous!
